I think someone said his cap hit is $8 million next season (not sure about that). For what he is doing at the moment, I don't see that as good use of the cap. However, I also don't see it as outrageous either.
I think McVay requires preciseness when it comes to route running. And from what I can tell from McVay's press conferences, they are working on that to get Austin on the field more. Austin also said he expects to be more involved in the offense.
I am a fan but I think he's gone next season. And I don't think he significantly hinders the offense or the growth of younger players. I might be in the minority there. But at the same time unless he can be a larger part of the offense I just don't see why they would keep him.
And I agree about his attitude. He seems to work hard, is a willing, effective blocker and hasn't @#$%& once about not getting the ball more. He doesn't seem to lack intelligence but perhaps the game had come so easily to him in HS and college that he isn't football smart when it comes to learning a playbook. McVay has a good set of teachers so Tavon could still have a shot at having a significantly bigger impact. If he does then maybe he stays...
