The Rams would never have been a great team to the extent they were if he was not chosen as the offensive coordinator. I don't believe Faulk and Warner have near the results they did if Martz is not their coach. See Goff and Gurley last year versus Goff and Gurley this year. We get more of last year for Faulk and Warner and less of this year. Remember that Faulk had less than a 4.0 yards per carry before Martz and a 5.5 yards per carry after Martz and Kurt Warner was a scout team QB that never could make it in the NFL with multiple chances. In fact, there was one season where Faulk played 13 games and had a yards per carry of 3.0 and was well below 1000 yards. A worst season than what Gurley had last year (Doesn't seem possible but yes Faulk had a season like that.) Of course, he had pro bowl seasons too, but the level of his performance improvement with the Rams was significant.
Not to mention the resurrection of Issac bruce after 2 down seasons after Martz left and Holt getting off to a great start. What we saw last year with the Rams is life without Martz. What we see this year is life with Martz. That is the kind of difference Martz made.
Also, I don't think the Rams go back to the superbowl in 2001 if Vermeil remained head coach because he stays with his guys like he did with KC. Remember, the defense struggled in the one playoff game on that great team with the Chiefs. The necessary changes were never made and not only did the Chiefs regress, the team under Vermeil never made it back to the playoffs after 1 playoff game.
