I think it starts out that way and the more comfortable the QB gets the more he options out of the play or takes more progressive reads. I think but do not know, Davis got comfortable with first read and dump the ball, and D.C. Got tape on him and dumped after his first read the got him.
Just attempting to temper expectations.
Hope all is well!!
laram, speaking for myself, I am 61 years old and have been a Rams fan for 51 years. This infact is my 51st year of Rams fandom. LOL
I understand your advice to temper expectations. I understand things can go the other way pretty quickly. I am simply stating the obvious that Goff
performed this past Saturday as we all would envision a number one overall QB would or should. Will Goff have bad games in the future? You bet he will!
Just like Kurt Warner had them and any other QB you can name. Did you see Eli Manning last night? yeesh!
If McVay scripted for Goff I see nothing alarming about that. Its his job to make Goff succeed. There is no rule that says a coach cannot script for his QB and that QB still be a quality player. Bill Walsh was the first I knew of to script the first 15 or 20 plays for his offense. So did Martz. Did that mean Montana or Warner were not good at reading defenses? I think its smart.
