I honestly believe that 80% or more of fans today would be ecstatic if they forced DB's to wear straight-jackets and shoes with spikes coming through the soles to hobble them. Come to think of it.. force 'hobbling' of DB's. There is absolutely no such thing as 'it's anyone's ball once it's in the air' these days. In all fairness, there never really was... but today all pretense is gone.
And even after putting the DB's in straight-jackets, and inserting the spikes, and then hobbling them.. fans will RAVE about how great the WR's are compared to those from 'yesteryear'.
Yes, I know it leads to more scoring. Yes, I know fans want more scoring. Yes, I know that anything that restricts a TD is 'boring' for most. But it's like watching a 'rigged game' now, and I simply cannot delude myself into thinking it's simply 'better players'. - JamesJM
