Sorry. I see virtually no evidence that Fisher ever functioned as a "good coach" with the Rams.
I think he tolerated an immense amount of slackness from the beginning. I think he was easily distracted by the glitter of possible gimmicks and never really laid in the foundation for a solid, disciplined team.
He probably was a "good coach" with TENN.
But when he came to us, his tank was half empty and by the end he was coasting on fumes.
I don't remember ever seeing what I thought was a "well coached team" with Fisher at the helm. Hell, even his talented defenses could never be counted on to show up when you really needed them. Remember that NYG game when we had a chance to lift our heads over the parapet of .500? 2 shutouts the previous weeks ... and then a complete collapse against a lousy team. You might say the 2 shutouts showed good coaching. But we had really good defensive talent and Fisher could never command any consistency.
Well, this is all subjective. For a long time with Fisher there, lots of people around here saw good things and hoped for a breakthrough. I NEVER saw any signs of a coach who could command any sort of consistent competitiveness.
