With different concepts, so first we need to make that distinction.
NFL teams run spread offenses now. All the spread is are formations that spread out the defense forcing them to defend the entire field.
That's not what we're dealing with here.
One is predicated on spreading out the defense both vertically and horizontally with run pass options, the other is predicated on a few select plays like in the run game if teams load the box, you run to the perimeter. If there is 5 in the box they'll run inside.
Inside zone runs, power, stretch and bubble screens. That's it.
In the pass game y-cross, shallow cross, tunnel screens and 4 verticales
The Air Raid offense only has a few plays comparatively.
There is so much more to learn and adapt to in the NFL.
So I'll believe the Air Raid argument is played out when a good sample size of qb's come into the NFL and have some success.
