I at first thought the Rams should hold firm, (not sure what the team offered him, way less than Suh money, Suh money, More than Suh money, who knows).
Then I thought let him sit out the season, And if the Rams have a better record ,say 8-8 then his value as this all pro, game changing stud takes a big hit.
But if this happened then his trade value would rightly take a pretty big hit. So if he isn't signing(and no way should the Rams allow an opt out clause, that's
just stupid), then trade him now while everyone values him as the all pro stud DT. Makes the most sense. imo.
I never put the record on just one player. No matter what the record is with Donald out, I would always say they had an excellent chance to be better with him in, but either way you can;t put the record on one player.
His trade value takes no hit under any circumstances. (Well except for an arrest or career damaging injury.) People have film. They know how to scout talent. They know how good he is. They know what he could do for them. They also know that records happen for many reasons. I know if I had a chance to trade for Calvin Johnson in his prime I would never go "yeah but Detroit suxx." These are professional personnel people. They know teams lose for lots of reasons and improve for lots of reasons. AND they would know what they could do with an elite defender in their scheme.
I doubt they trade him, but my line on that is simple. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. All the picks for Dickerson yielded nothing, for example.
