That I've asked before but will ask again.
Donald has been top 1 or 2 whatever defensive tackles in the game the last three years. right?
Ok and during that time the Rams have gone...
6-10
7-9
4-12
Stay with me for a minute....
Let's take a qb playing for the Rams at the same level, top 1 or 2 in the league.
Do YOU believe the Rams would have been 17-31 with a qb playing at the same level top 1 or 2 in the league?
NO? Then why on earth would you pay a dt qb money $20M per year?
I would really love to hear the rationale for doing that!
QBs are now averaging 25 M a year for new contracts. Including ones who have never been to a superbowl (Carr, Luck).
There's no magic formula that says an elite DT can't get 20 M. 2 years ago Suh got 19 M. The contracts cop didn't blow his whistle and say "it stops there." In fact the avg. top contract for every position goes up every year.
Contracts work this way. If you don't pay the guy a certain amount, another team will. It's not decided by a football god who caps the amount per position.
And the way the market works, we're now in a world where qbs get 25 M and elite DTs get 20 M
.
You seem to think he is some sort of unrestricted free agent.
Your theory works great when you actually are an unrestricted free agent.
Donald only has ONE team that can bid on him right now for at least FOUR years if said team wants him. That's how the current contract works.
