And the offense has only so many plays to run, even when it is successful.
Set aside Tavon for a moment. We're all excited about what seems to be a sudden abundance of talent at WR and TE.
We need to understand that only 2-3 WRs can really get a lot of touches. And those touches will be fewer if you have a strong TE attack, as McVay clearly wants to do.
So, when you say Tavon will get his touches ... well, who loses touches?
Do you really want youngsters like Kupp and Reynolds to sacrifice their touches and development for a gadget guy who can't do the basics they can?
There is a quantitative side to running an offense. And I do not see how Tavon can command a large portion of the touches available.
