So yep a multipurpose threat you need to create a game package for as long as you have him.
Agreed.
McVay talks about him with a lot of interest in what he can do.
The issue is health, looks like.
.
C'mon, zn.
What HC in his right mind is gonna criticize one of his players publicly? Please...
All HC's are gonna twist themselves into a pretzel to try to find something nice to say about their players. Especially their starters. Right up until they sometimes trade or release them.
Seems foolish to give too much weight to that sort of obvious coachspeak.
Isn't there a difference between criticizing a player publicly and going out of your way to say positive things about the player?
I don't know about you 43 but I clearly remember many coaches declining to say anything positive about a player or simply opting to not mention the players name when discussing the team.
I don't see a bunch of pretzel twisting when it comes to coaches and haven't seen any from McVay. From what I can tell, he's a pretty straight shooter.
Also, are we to take this to mean you're going to ignore all positive comments from McVay about other players from now on? Or are we just choosing to believe the positive comments about some players depending on how we personally feel about said player?
I've seen you make a big deal about McVay's positive comments about other players without calling it "coachspeak." Usually it's because you personally feel positive about that player. In the name of consistency, positive comments about a player shouldn't be dismissed simply because you feel negative about that player.
Anyway...on to the more substantive discussion about Tavon....
Earlier in the thread you asked if anyone honestly sees Tavon getting snaps ahead of Watkins, Woods, and Kupp and if anyone thought that those 3 WR's would get McVay more big plays than Tavon?
If we're looking for big, explosive plays, I see Tavon right behind Watkins.
We can call Woods, Kupp, Reynolds, Cooper, and Thomas better WRs than Tavon if that pleases you but not one of them has proven to be a better playmaker.
I have hope that Everett will turn out to be a great playmaker but he's a rookie and unproven right now.
Proven playmakers on the Rams right now are Watkins, Gurley, and Tavon. That's it.
Moreover, I don't expect Kupp and Woods to be big play producers. I don't even see that as their role. They are there to move the chains.
We will all eventually see but I'm confident that McVay and Snead are serious about their intentions to use Tavon as an all around playmaking weapon.
The snaps issue will be resolved by McVay using a varied attack and unlimited combos between all of his weapons.
