Rams coach Sean McVay was not constantly smiling Sunday.
That, McVay said, should have been the telltale sign that no deal had been struck with star defensive lineman Aaron Donald.
That;s just Thirry, who doesn't sound like a deep thinker, misconstruing or distorting something McVay said.
What McVay actually said, and he said it good heartedly, is that they will know they've signed Donald because he will have a big smile on his face.
Thirry distorts that by saying because he didn't smile during the Dallas game (and it's true that McVay needs a better gameface) that indicates he's unhappy about Donald. Well that's just whimsical on her part to take something McVay didn't mean and apply it to his gameface and then pretend that it's connected to Donald.
But we have no business taking that seriously.
McVay said he will be very happy when Donald signs. He did NOT say he was UNhappy with HIM for not signing.
And all these people assuming that the problem is Donald? If there's a contract impasse it is as likely if not MORE likely that it's the team.
But either way there's not enough info out there to safely make EITHER assumption.
...
Bill Belicheck looks like he should star in the remake of "Grumpy Old Men" with his game face.....he seems to be doing ok.
And sorry, it's Donald not living up to his contract by not being here right now, not the other way around..... I know what your trying to say, but it's not a good look right now when other rookies in his draft class who by far outperformed their contracts are in camp right now(Beckham and Mack)
