Having watched him a lot.. college and pro's - I'm convinced he has all the physical skills AND intangibles (heart, desire) to be a very good NFL QB.
Here is where I'm pessimistic... "he wasn't Pro Ball ready"... "College didn't prepare him".... but I'm not pessimistic about that in the way you're probably thinking. I'm SURE he was ill-prepared, and that it's a process... my gut tells me, however, that 'getting ready' shouldn't be and is not the arduous and very time consuming task many make it out to be... or at least not for a QB who truly has the potential to be very good. What I'm saying is.. not sure where he is this year but if his game is still quite noticeably behind then it's taking too long... and I can't help but wondering if he'll ever get it IF that is true.
Goff should 'at least' be flashing brilliant occasionally.. and that right now.. yet I have not read that, or seen it. It's not 'mistakes' that worry me. Those I expect, and those probably do require a considerably lengthy process... hell, Brady still makes mistakes. But where are the 'brilliant flashes'? - JamesJM
