I'm sure your like me. I'm tired of losing. I just want to see us turn this thing around. I would expect a player drafted in the top 5 of the draft to be a top 10 player in this league and lead his team to the playoffs year in and year out. I think he can develop into that guy, but the key word is develop. I don't think he's going to be a top 10 QB this year. He needs time and experience. I think it would be unrealistic to think he would be this year. I think the coaching staff will be smart with him and put him in positions to have success. He has all the tools. From a physical standpoint he can make all the throws. He has good pocket awareness and is a little more athletic than people give him credit for. The reason I say he's not at the level we need him to be is because he needs to be more consistent. You see the flashes, but we need to see them on a more consistent basis. That only comes from time and experience.
On a side note. I referee Division 1 Basketball. i work 6 conferences on the west coast including the Pac 12. We have talented young officials break in to our level all the time. It's funny because we always talk about going through the process and allowing these young officials to develop. There is no substitute for experience. We talk about the need to "see plays". It's amazing to see the difference between year 1 and year 3 after these guys have had a chance to work some games, make some mistakes and grow from thier experiences. Jared Goff needs to "see more plays", make some mistakes and grow from his experiences. I think he will. After losing for 15 years its hard to preach patience ,but we have no choice.
