Let me get this out of the way.... yell at me, wag your finger at me, call me a chauvinistic pig misogynist. (even though this doesn't apply only to women)
I used to allow NO ONE in the house with me during Rams games. (Thinking about going back to this strategy actually). I mean that literally. NO ONE. Not my wife, not my kids, not my parents. I never watched games on TV with friends. During the game we're discussing this rule was in play - (long since gone).
My wife was across the street watching the game with my parents and kids.
So Waddy makes the catch... and the phone rings. I KNOW it's my wife... (and this was LONG before we had caller ID)... all excited, thrilled, sure we had won the game. Wellll, I was excited, to be sure.. my thrill meter had pegged... but 'sure'? NOT A FRIGGIN' CHANCE!!!!!! I was NOT going to answer that phone. Pacing had begun... upstairs, downstairs, into the kitchen, into my office, around the sofa till I got dizzy. Genuflecting, chanting "Please please please please please please please...." in a non-stop diatribe. Screaming "I can't take this... I can't take this... I can't take this"....
Well, I think you get the state of mind I was in. The Rams win....
Just like you I burst out my front door... across my driveway, across my lawn... (I ran a 4.16 40 that day, official, my Dad clocked me)... my wife was doing the same thing only from my parents house. We met on the street and the celebration began.
I have celebrated as vigorously many times, over the years. But THAT one.... that stands out to me. - JamesJM
