NOTE: I moved this topic to this board from the Pub. My first thought was that it was "Pub" material.. then I got to thinking, "HELL NO. This is HERD material "
There was a quick knock on the door... then silence. No second knock. That's how our UPS guy announces his presence. My granddaughter opened the door and brought in the package, set it in the entry - no doubt thinking, "just another package for papa". Ah, little did she know.
I was in my my office paying some bills, balancing my books, I never noticed the knock. The package sat for about half an hour. I needed a second cup of coffee and passed by the entry where the package sat. I knew instantly.
My family had gone to the living room, some on video games, some watching cartoons on TV. I brought the package into the living room and sat in the middle of the floor. Everyone asked, "What's in this one". They don't get all that excited these day because my packages usually contain things they couldn't care less about - like tools of some sort, fuses, batteries, etc - but every so often they are laden with treasure.. and this package contained the mother lode.
Signman had said, on the Pub, he'd toss in a couple extra things.... first thing I pulled out of the box was a Ram's cap, youth size. I called over my youngest grandson Elijah... perfect fit.
Second item was a hoodie.. which Ashton claimed.
Now 'it was on'... as the family gathered around me... and the auction was on. "Mine... I called it first" My grandson Ashton, 11yrs old, to his mom, "What do you MEAN you don't know who Quinn is?"
It was a box full of joy and happiness... and I was the most giddy of all.
Tom... Thanks, my friend. Very special day in the JamesJM household.
