I have been bashing Fisher for a long time because, to me, coaching failure could be read in continued team failure. I know not everyone bought into that.

But what I have long believed was that it would take the experience of good coaching to bring into relief the degree to which our team failure was largely Fisher's failure.

And I think your one sentence says it brilliantly: we saw a team last night that was COACHED.

Well, i think zn makes good points. He always brings inconvenient contexts to us fisher-bashers

But I am in your camp now. I expect to receive my official fisher-basher hat
and fisher-basher jersey and fisher-basher bobble-head in the mail soon.

Again i dont intend to 'dwell' on the Fisher thing. Its not fun. And maybe I'm giving him too much blame. I dunno. Allz-I-know-iz, what i saw out there in the first dam practice game of the Mc-snead era looked like an NFL football team. To 'me' the difference was significant.

Well I like what I saw last night. And it was the kind of stuff where you look and realize, you can only expect more of it. Meaning, the right things looked good. For example, the defense looked good ALL GAME, in every facet of the game, and yet of the 11 base starters (counting Donald) 4 took no snaps at all and 6 more took only 6 snaps each. Now that there is a defensive coordinator.

I realize some of it's honeymoon period stuff too. If a "previous coach now in the doghouse" (take your pick) fielded a team that fumbled 6 times in the pre-season, we would never hear the end of it. It would swamp all other considerations.

I understand that, but STILL, last night was a very good first showing---and as I said, it's not just that many things went right, it's that the things that went right are trustworthy things it;s easy to believe are harbingers. Solid, good, structural stuff of the kind that is core to a team and its identity.
