I think all the fumbles were a bit of a freakish fluke. But that O line needs some SERIOUS work.
Fisher was never able to upgrade it consistently and left it the same way for McVay.
Whitworth will be 36 years old in December. We must pray the old man can stay healthy or else the Rams and Goff are in deep trouble.
Also every other starter on the OL has had some type of injury issues, so depth is huge concern. And no, please no injury excuses when they occur.
Using the OL personnel the Rams currently have, I would line them up like this:
LT Whitworth
LG Brown
C Sullivan
RG Saffold
RT Havenstein
Brown is arguably the weakest link so move him to the left side (he has played there before) next to Whitworth. Forget about Brown at RT, the Rams will have a much better chance keeping Goff upright with Havenstein there instead. Why not Saffold at RG next to Havs? It worked once before and Saffold played well there for a period of time.
This could be a very rough season and the Rams will continue to address the OL going forward, but there is only so much they can do right now. Let's hope it gels some and they can become decent sooner rather than later.
