Saguaro
Limited snaps by the 1st unit.
Let's see what they do with a little more time together.
I haven't been buying Brown and Hav as world beaters for quite a while now, so I'm neither surprised nor disappointed.
But Whit is still a huge upgrade at LT.
If the oline depth needs to be shaken up, and reformulated, let's see them do it.
Gotta be some cuts or practice squads that could supply something better than a couple of the guys we have.
How many times have you seen a 2nd or 3rd preseason game seem to tell a completely different story than the 1st one.
I've seen it many times.
In the meantime, the defense did not disappoint me at all, even with no Quinn, no AD.
Some things look ok. Some expectations got a little reset.
I agree that the D and ST looked pretty decent, Sag. The D looks like something to build on. Some nice plays by some rookies and backup competitors.
But that OL beyond the starters? Scary, man. Heaven help us if an injury takes down any one of Whit, Saff, Sully, or Hav. Not sure that Brown is a legit RG, tbh.
Kromer needs to work his magic, and soon.
I know that I'll probably feel better in the morning. Maybe even better after re-watching this game.
But right now? I am bummed.
Everett flashed for a couple of plays, and Kupp played as advertised. Justin Davis looked very good (if you don't count the 2 fumbles). But beyond that, I'm hard pressed to point to reasons for optimism.
Woods certainly didn't distinguish himself.
Our only TD was a fumble recovery forward by Kupp, for crying out loud. Are you KIDDING me?
Does Hemingway realize that he's fighting to make this roster?
Was Higbee on the field?
But the biggest disappointment was the OL play, especially JB and the various backups. It was pathetic.
These are our weapons? Seriously? Not gonna sugarcoat it. I expected so much more from our O players. Arrrrrgh!
