They gave up a player too, their starting CB and they are terribly thin at that position already.
All in all I'm just more cognizant of the swing for the fences risk associated with this move than I am "opposed" to it. I think it's the kind of move that makes more sense for a team looking for that final piece to get them over the top than a team like the Rams, but I'm simultaneously excited about the possibility or potential Watkins adds to the offense.
It's a big gamble on an elite "talent" that has not yet been an elite "player," which is very much the same as trading a 2nd rounder and player like Gaines to move up in the first round of the draft to get him. Major difference there being when you draft that player you get him for at least 4 years, not just 1 before you have to make the big money, long term decision on him.
