I wonder if Snead either wanted Watkins and/or was catering to Fisher's desire to get a mauling OT that would fit his run powered offensive style.
Everything Snead has done since McVay was hired was to cater to what McVay wanted. If anything Snead had less power with Fisher and may have had Watkins rated higher than GRob but deferred to Fisher and Fisher's style. I'll never forget Fisher saying before the draft that anyone who thinks we need WRs doesn't know what they're talking about. Obviously, there is no way Snead would be allowed to draft Watkins even if he wanted him over GRob.
OTOH, I do think Snead was all in on Goff, by that point he was collaborating with Demoff and on the outs with Fisher. I think if Snead wanted Wentz over Goff we would have heard about it somehow.
