However, the fact is he did look horrible last season and needs to show significant improvement this coming season, otherwise we would be foolish to have faith in him being the Rams long term answer at QB.
Could Goff need 3-5 years of development? Possibly. I just hope the Rams don't pass up a QB McVay/Snead considers a great QB prospect in a strong QB draft year (looks like 2018 will be one of them. What if 2019-2020 suck in that area?) by putting all their eggs in one basket with Goff.
Now I`m not saying to trade a bunch of picks to move up for another QB at some point in the next couple drafts if Goff is not developing as expected, but if the Rams have an opportunity to draft a QB they really like that falls to them, by all means select him. And it doesn't necessarily need to be a 1st rounder, could be a 2nd if they get lucky enough.
Just don't put all your eggs in one basket because you know how much you invested to get a #1 overall and your ego will not allow you to move on, or just as bad, worry about giving Goff real competition in the future and hurting his feelings.
