Aside from whether he's a bum or not, will he even be here in September? ESPN's Gonzalez has the Rams keeping 2 QB's on the final roster: Goff/Mannion.

Orlovsky can't be on the practice squad....so it's 53 man roster only for him. So either they keep 3 QB's or one of the other QB's has to go.

What sense does it make to have him got through training camp, with the odds he'll be gone by Week 1?

Then they'll sign some young QB for the practice squad who will not have gone through their training camp.

Could they be unhappy with Mannion?

So IMO he's a 3rd qb.

Will they keep 2 or 3? I don't assume they've even decided that yet.

But if they keep 3, in essence he's really a potential #2 in case Goff misses time and Mannion starts.

In the last 15 seasons we've seen the Rams use at least 3 qbs 6 different years---2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, & 2011.

So I suppose this is one possible way to look at it. Most 3rd qbs are not going to do you much good no matter who it is...so you might as well sign a third who is a veteran with a rep for being a coach type who helps young starters prepare.
