The Rams paid TA what they did based on the fact that he scored a combined 10 TDs in 2015. He was one of 23 players among all WRs, TEs, and RBs to do so that year.
His salary was reasonable for someone with that type of production.
The salary was based on actual production, not mindless infatuation. That type of production was not conjecture and takes him out of the bust category. So in that sense, you're not correct at all.
I agree with a lot of that. That is, yes, his contract was based on 2015 production.
But, problem is, in 2016 they didn't use him the way they did in 2015, which was what got the production.
So did Tavon fall off or did they try and force him to be what he wasn't?
It's also true that other factors (like no running game) contributed to his lesser production in 2016.
If McVay continues to try and make him something he isn;t, then, IMO he won't and can't come through and will most likely be gone.
If McVay does something more like 2015 with Tavon, I think the production comes back.
