My theory is they wanted his signing to continue the hype of the team the players supposed big year ahead and the hype of Hard Knocks.
It was a P.R. move but within reason.
They don't have to keep him next year but they do need him to sizzle this year with big plays to make people stand up and cheer just like They need from Gurley.
Otherwise the Rams are a snoozefest.
