An NFL players career can be over in a blink, I wouldn't like it either.
A one year franchise at $16M vs a 4-5 year deal with $25-$30M guranteed is a prodigious difference.
Plus it takes away a players leverage.
I would HATE it as a player.
Tru basically just got two years and about $30 million guarantee.....not a bad deal.
Just got way more in two years in G-jack than he would have ever scored in FA.
Injury is always a risk for sure but in this day and age when's the that time a guy suffered a career ender? It could happen of course but more and more the player is making out under the tag, especially when they have time (age) on their side to hit FA again the following year and my goodness could you imagine if the skins tag Cousins AGAIN in 18'? He'd have made over $70 mil IN THREE YEARS....AND STILL BE A FA THE YEAR AFTER!
