This makes no sense.
Hasn't Mack outperformed his contract too?
Can't Mack get hurt just as easily as Donald this year and miss out on his big pay day too?
I tell you the difference.
Donald's agent realizes the Rams FO is incompetent and knows he can take advantage of guys who make dumb deals like Austin's and Johnson's.
There is no other difference between Donald and Mack.
Mack won't hold out cause he knows it would do him no good.
Technically, AD hasn't yet "held out", max. And can't possibly until July 29th at the earliest. Meanwhile, AD has kept an extremely low public profile as has his agent.
And I think that describing the Ram FO as incompetent is an overreach, frankly. They're holding all the cards and have all the leverage, yet they've publicly said that they're negotiating an extension 2 full years earlier than they have to in the interests of fair play and PR. How is that incompetent?
Sounds like a pretty danged smart overall Ram strategy to me.
They did blow the Tavon extension (Fisher's Folly, I suspect) and the TruJo contract impasse. No argument from me on those two. But I do love about 20 other offseason moves that they've made already. Overall, I'll take it and with a big smile, to boot.
Exactly, except the jury is still out as far as Tavon goes imo... everyone else seems to be getting a free pass for being stuck in Fisher's offense, let's see what McVay can do with him... and I don't think they screwed up with Tru either, they used the cba rules to their advantage and simply didn't want to over pay for him in a long term deal... who knows, maybe they do keep him around after next year though? But yeah, comparing AD and macks contract situations based on front offices is reaching a bit to say the least.
