To ME this argument is pointless because IF Cousins hits the market I believe odds are even money he ends up with Shanny in SF.
Could you imagine if Goff fails and the Rams lose out in a bidding war for Cousins to SF?
Hopefully if that happened I'd be over joyed with the Rams for doing what it takes to grad Darnold in next years draft. Then we could all rest easy about our QB for the next 15 years!
Well, we're considering two hypotheticals here, the very definition of a fool's errand, RFIP.
But, since this is the slow season and the topic is kinda interesting, here goes.
If Goff thrives, the discussion is over. Goff will be the Ram starter for maybe the next 12-15 years and we all live happily ever after.
If Goff fails, then Cousins is a possible Ram target. TBH, in this scenario I give McVay and the Rams the edge over Shanny and the Niners for Cousins' services. I suspect that Cousins just loves McVay, the Rams will have the better surrounding teammates, and Kroenke will be willing to pay whatever is necessary so the Niners can't win any bidding war. Checkmate.
I have high hopes for Goff, mind you. But McVay is gonna have his QB to run his O, one way or another. I have little doubt of that at all.
Either way, then, the Rams have a great future to look forward to.
