Trying to figure out how ready I am for Snead to pack his things.
Fisher had on paper final say. Snead as GM basically worked on getting the coaches their kind of players.
If you want to trash Snead because of GR, be my guest. My take is that Goff and the rest of the 2016/2017 drafts will count more than GR. If that works out he stays. And I would be for him staying.
Now, under the new arrangement, Snead has on paper final say. Doesn't mean he's an overlord GM who just runs everything. Again, he looks for the kinds of players the coaches want and need for their systems.
In 2012 the Rams drafted 2 secondary starters and signed a UDFA who was a third secondary starter. All 3 got big contracts, though with Tru that's a tag (so far). You can't name another Rams personnel group in their history that got 3 notable starters in the secondary from one draft. In fact they let 3 guys walk in the secondary (JJ, McCleod, McDonald) and have replacements for the safeties already lined up---replacements that promise to be as good as if not better the guys who left.
So it's not all bad obviously.
The question is whether Snead is finding WRs and TEs for McVay that match the secondary guys he found for Fisher.
That, I am betting, plus Goff, will factor much more in Snead's future than GR will.
