The guy just doesn't have what it takes between the ears. I feel sorry for him, I really believe he's trying, he just locks up mentally. I just don't see how that's going to change. And this has nothing to do with his feet, or lateral movement, or anything related to physical talent or ability.
I know he was a consensus top 10 talent. But there were guys like Dan Shonka and Ross Tucker and Greg Cosell who warned that he may never get it even though he was a physical freak.
That's the problem with high upside guys, their bust rate is higher than with guys who showed more production in college. We got ourselves another bust. Just gotta accept it and move on.
It's easy to blame Snead and Fisher for the decision to draft Robinson after the fact. They rolled the dice and crapped out. That's how it goes when you gamble on major high upside guys.
My view is that I don't care if everyone had him in the top 10, I care about the approach to the player assessment. Is it worth the risk to get the reward? My view is that I don't think it is at #2 overall, especially in a draft loaded with guys who did produce at a high level and had a ton of talent.
