I think McVay is serious about nobody being handed their job on a silver platter.
Part of it is gutting the Fisher good ol' boy network of players.
And he wants players to compete and never feel comfortable in their jobs.
However Goff simply has more talent than Mannion. This is not the RG3 versus Cousins deal.
RG3 was seriously injured, and was not a pocket passer, and could not seem to execute Gruden's offense. Cousins could.
Goff is a pocket passer all the way. Of course so is Mannion.
It is Goff's job to lose. But he won't lose it in OTAs or Training Camp.
RG3 got a long leash before Cousins was turned to. Goff will get at least as long a leash.
