If one name has constantly come off of McVay's lips (other than Goff) it is definitely Kupp. Far more so than Everett, even.
Players on both sides of the ball mention him.
And, when he went to the senior bowl he made some awfully good secondary guys look a little silly.
And when he played against the major schools, he had some of his biggest games.
I think you can tell very early with some guys....it was like that with Isaac Bruce for instance. Immediately he created a buzz. And both Kupp and Bruce for the same reason. Neither were physical freaks; they both had adequate speed, great hands, were well ahead of most rookies, including 1st round rookies, in their understanding, their technique, and in their work ethic. They had more maturity than the other rooks.
I suspect that by year's end, Kupp is going to be talked about as one of those steals of the draft that in some ways it was obvious before the draft that he would be. If he plays for a major school, he's probably a 1st rounder.
I just think he could wind up being the best WR we've had since Bruce and Holt. Staying healthy will be the key.
I'd bet that if the Rams had to start a game tomorrow, Woods and Kupp would be the top 2 on the depth chart.
