Hallmarks of this offense and passing game are precise routes and depths, and players being dependable catchers of the ball. Both those things are weaknesses of Tavon. Tavon still rounds off routes and does what he wants, and demonstrates inconsistent hands. The question is whether he can make himself a student of the game and become good at both those things.
Personally, I don't think he can. I just keep going back to that stunt he pulled as a supposed leader of the wideouts to not support his QB on an off day run-through of the offense when Goff first got the job. Players who want to be great, who care about the right things, would probably have been there for that new kid so that they'd have their best chance of winning. I think he is going to collect his big paycheck this season and just get through it and the Rams will then cut or trade him.
Cutting him this year would have been like $19M in dead money. Next year is $5M, so he'd better make it a priority to run great routes and eliminate the focus drops. If not he's gone.
