Does Cory Harkey still have a role? Rams coach Sean McVay called him a "great leader" and someone who "has some versatility," for his ability to contribute on special teams, fullback and tight end. "But we're looking to find the best guys," McVay said, "and those decisions will be made at a later date."
It's no certainty that Tavon Austin will return punts this year. Sean McVay said special teams coordinator John Fassel is keeping it open, though Austin and Pharoh Cooper are the main guys under consideration. On Austin, McVay said: "Any time you've got a guy like that who can create with the ball in his hands, you want to be able to create those opportunities. But I know there's other players in place that can do that, as well."
Rams coach Sean McVay said he's "encouraged" about the offensive players at rookie minicamp.
New OLB Ejuan Price played at Pitt with Aaron Donald and was even rivals with him in high school. "We kind of do the same stuff," Price said. "Obviously he's better at it than me. I'm going to keep practicing."
Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster once described FB Sam Rogers as a "nonstop ball of butcher knives." Rogers: "I don't even know what that means. It seems like a compliment, but I'm not really sure."
