Tim,
Another photo of Elroy and his family. This is July 1969 in Hawaii, I was in the Navy and on our way to pick up the Apollo 11 astronauts who walked on the moon. Elroy saw the USS Hornet arriving in Pearl Harbor and knew I was on it so he walked up to every sailor in Honolulu and asked, "do you know Bob Z--------, do you known Bob Z--------?" He asked about 100 sailors until he found one that did and said to give him this note. That was Elroy!
I spent, with some buddies, 2 days on Waikiki on the 8th floor overlooking the Pacific Ocean with Elroy Hirsch and family making about $200 a month. Not bad, but again, that was Elroy and truly a great guy.
Bob
The tall kid in the background is Win Hirsch, their son. He was a tight end on our H.S. football team!
