I don't understand why GRob is the scapegoat for our Rams. Could be because he's our largest guy when he makes a mistake it's that obvious. And sure, he makes mistakes. But, is he the whole reason we were 4-12 last season instead of 16-0? He did have costly penalties. Sometimes he blocked the wrong guy. I get it. Not good. But, there were many other players who played below expectations for us last year and are now gone. Keenum was our QB and had a losing record. He had some good games but was ridiculously awful in others. Barnes. He got crushed on nearly every play collapsing the pocket in the middle forcing our QBs to the edge where they could gets sacked by edge rushers who line up where exactly? Right. Opposite our OTs where GRob and Havs were trying to block. He's gone. What about all the passes that were dropped? Well, three of those guys are gone and have been replaced. What about runners? TG30 had a bad year. Benny was solid but is now gone any way and the other guys barely saw the field. TG30 looked like the best HB in football his rookie year. And with better blocking and scheme and a passing threat maybe he goes back to that form. Grob hot replaced too, but we did it on a smart way. We signed an All Pro for his position so he can learn while our QB's back sides are protected. This is like Jake Long again. That was the plan when we took such a young green kid. Whitworth will play LOT for two seasons and hopefully GRob will blossom by then. In the meantime he'll line up at ROT where his shear strength and athleticism should shine. Honestly, besides AD, Hekker, Legatron and Benny I don't know who had a good year on our whole squad. Surely someone will argue such and such a player was solid, but, you do get the point. The whole team was bad. The offensive system was ridiculous. Hard to learn and easy to read. It didn't work for our talent. Boras is gone. If you're looking for religious joyous relief expressions, perhaps this move is worth such a decry. Fisher is gone. Expression of joy is appropriate. Although, even he did build a strong defense and special teams.
GRob is still a young vastly talented young player who has been jerked around with position changes and scheme changes since he arrived. I haven't given up on him. I still see good plays in between mistakes. I see strong effort to improve. And even if he can't get ROT or RG I would still look to find a spot for his talent. If offense is too hard to learn and his biggest problem is grabbing tacklers and tackling them, then maybe he should play defense. He could be a NT tomorrow. But, please, please stop blaming this one kid for everything that happens. It's mean. And he's never done anything to anyone here.
