No matter HOW the O line was built it definitely was a priority with Dallas. Gillman once declared that to build a really competitive NFL team the RIGHT way was you start with the O line. So no matter how they did it prioritizing the O line was the right thing to do. At least in my opinion.
It was a priority with the Rams too, first in 2012/13 then in 2015.
It's just that in the first effort (2012/13) they relied heavily on free agency. (Like they are now so far.)
It just didn;t work---largely, my view is, because of injuries to key players (though that only covers 2012-15).
2016? A line that was supposed to improve, just plain universally (virtually to a man) didn't. That suggests to me that a lot of factors were at work.
Let's look at last year's top 10 OLs according to PFF (not the bible, just a handy source for the sake of discussion).
Some were built the Dallas way. Some were built in different ways.
