Rams 2017 Schedule Released

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Rams announced today their 2017 regular season schedule, which kicks off at home on Sept. 10 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum against the Indianapolis Colts. In Week 2, first-year Head Coach SEAN McVAY will face his former team as the Washington Redskins travel to Los Angeles for the first time since 1994. In addition to the Rams’ NFC West opponents, LA will play each franchise in the NFC East and AFC South, including four teams that made the 2017 playoffs.

“The NFL schedule release is one of the most anticipated events for football fans and we’re looking forward to opening the 2017 season with two games at home,” McVay said. “Our fans give us one of the best home field advantages in the National Football League and we’re excited to get in front of them at the Coliseum this fall.”

The Rams are 48-28-3 in home openers and own a 40-39 record overall in Week 1. This year’s opener vs. the Colts marks the teams’ 19th meeting at the Coliseum. In Indianapolis’ last visit to the Coliseum, the Rams walked away with a 24-13 win. Most recently, the two clubs played in the regular season in 2013, where the Rams won, 38-8. At home against Indianapolis, the Rams boast a 12-9 overall record.

On Sept. 17, Los Angeles hosts a familiar opponent in the Redskins as this year’s matchup marks the 10th meeting between the teams in 13 seasons. Washington leads the series, 23-11-1, while the Rams won three of the last five games dating back to 2010.

The Rams travel to Northern California the following week to face the San Francisco 49ers as part of NFL Network’s national broadcast of “Thursday Night Football.” The game marks LA’s first divisional game of the season and their fourth time visiting Levi’s Stadium since it opened in 2014. Overall, the Rams are 32-33-2 in road meetings at San Francisco.

In Week 4, Los Angeles will take on their first of four playoff teams in a conference matchup against the Dallas Cowboys who had a league-best 13-3 record in 2016. The game marks the Rams’ third visit to AT&T Stadium, which opened in 2009, with Los Angeles looking to record their first win at the stadium. Dallas currently leads the all-time series 13-11.

After two weeks on the road, the Rams come home to the Coliseum to host the defending NFC West Champion Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 8. LA extended its home-game winning streak over Seattle to three after defeating the Seahawks in last year’s season opener, which drew a crowd of more than 90,000 fans. The Rams won four of their last six games against Seattle.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will host Los Angeles in Week 6 for just the second time in franchise history since joining the NFL as an expansion team in 1995. The game will be the teams’ fifth meeting overall, with LA looking for its first win in Jacksonville. Following the team’s cross-country trip to Jacksonville, Los Angeles continues east to the United Kingdom to host the Arizona Cardinals at London’s Twickenham Stadium as part of the NFL’s International Series before heading into the bye week.

In Weeks 9-14 the Rams exchange home and road games starting with an east coast meeting with the New York Giants for the second time in as many years. Their 2016 matchup took place at Twickenham Stadium in what was the first-ever NFL game played in the history of the stadium. Since the Rams first traveled to the Giants in 1938, the club has accumulated a 12-9 record in New York and leads the overall series, 25-16.

In Week 10, the Houston Texans will make their first visit to Los Angeles and participate in just their fourth meeting overall with the Rams. In their last contest, the Rams defeated the Texans, 38-13, in a 2013 matchup played at NRG Stadium in Houston. The visiting team has won all three contests.

On Nov. 19, the Minnesota Vikings will host Los Angeles who is set to play its first regular season game at U.S. Bank Stadium. Last season, the Rams played a preseason game at the Vikings’ new stadium in what was the second football game ever played in the venue. The franchises last met in the regular season in 2015 at University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium, a contest the Rams lost in overtime. Their series span 37 games with Minnesota leading, 21-14-2.

In Week 12, the New Orleans Saints head to Southern California for the first time since 1994 to face Los Angeles. The Rams lead the all-time series against the Saints, 40-32, which began in 1967. Last season in New Orleans, QB Jared Goff earned his first road start and became the first Rams quarterback to throw three first half touchdowns since 2010.

Los Angeles begins their second slate of meetings within the division starting with a trip to Phoenix in Week 13 followed by the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15. The Rams head into the Week 13 matchup in search of their third-consecutive road win over Arizona. As the visiting team, the Rams own a one-game advantage over the Cardinals beginning in 1937 with an 18-17-2 road record.

Sandwiched between the Rams’ NFC West games, LA will play the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 10. The Rams hold a 10-5-1 record vs. the Eagles at home. The teams previously played seven times at the Coliseum with the Rams edging the Eagles, 5-1-1, including a 1949 conference championship.

On Christmas Eve, the Rams visit the Tennessee Titans for the first time since 2009. The Titans won two of their last three meetings dating back to 2005, while the Rams lead the all-time series, 6-5.

Los Angeles will close the 2017 season at home against the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 31, marking the ninth-consecutive season the Rams played their final game of the regular season against a divisional opponent. The Rams will look to improve their series record in the organization’s longest-standing rivalry against San Francisco, which the 49ers lead, 67-64-3 all-time.

All Rams games can be heard in English on ESPN LA 710 AM, with a full simulcast on 100.3 The Sound, and in Spanish on ESPN Deportes 1330AM. For information about Rams season tickets and single-game tickets, fans may visit www.therams.com/tickets.
