CB is a critical position in Phillip's Ds. So what are the Rams supposed to do.......dump their hands down best CB because they're paying him too much? Are they supposed to draft a CB in round 2 and start him? And exactly what are they going to use the extra money for? I doubt other FAs because all that's left are the journeyman types. Maybe to re-sign Donald, but I think there are ways around having enough money to do that.
Further, the Rams can't just "dump" TruJ to someone else. Nobody is going to pay TruJ that much money, and what possible incentive could he have to take less? The contract has been signed, the money is 100% guaranteed. And the Rams didn't put themselves in this predicament simply in hopes of getting any kind of draft pick compensation they could beg and plead for.
I've said before: I frankly don't even undersand the Rams strategy in this.
Simple, tell him and his agent to go out and find a deal for long term and then a trade can be worked out.
Who's going to play corner? How about Gaines? There are a couple other guys who can play. Number 35 I forget his name but I think is Cameron?
There is also Hill. They also have another kid from Tennessee as I recall.
Would love to keep Trujo but not for 17 million.
