Totally agree.
If some top 20 CB or FS (according to the Rams's own board) slid to 37, and they were well above any WR or TE left on their board, that will be the only way the Rams go defense in either rounds 2 or 3. I am pretty confident that they wouldn't even take an Edge Rusher at 37 because they have two good ones/starters, already. And BTW, the sliding CB or FS is entirely possible (from my armchair) since there are a number of good CBs and Safeties, to go along with a number of good WRs and TEs.
They are going to go for playmakers, and offense will be the preference. We now have an HC with an offensive mindset. That's his specialty. In fact, I haven't heard that he has EVER worked with defense in his coaching career.
That is why he was so happy (and it was so necessary) to get Wade Phillips, and no doubt had a large influence on why Phillips came. McVay is simply going to hand the keys to the D over to Phillips and for the most part it'll be hands off. And the D is already a good D, with perhaps the best Dlineman in the league in Donald. McVay is going to focus on the O because he and everyone else (other than Jeff Fisher) knows that Offense is what has been holding this team back for over a decade. And I love it.
