#1 WR is not available
We will never be a playoff team without more quality WRs.
Yeah, CROMWELL. I agree.
But, sadly, the same is true for TE's and C.
Surely we can acquire all 3 plus a CB with 4 picks through the first four rounds in THIS draft?
I agree we should be able to acquire all three in the first four rounds. My personal opinion is that we should acquire a WR by round 3.
Based on historical statistics, Round 4 as far as finding starters is suspect too. I know it's a deep draft but odds are odds.
Also, I believe certain positions have more success than others with late draftees. For instance, it was stated here recently, that half of the starting centers in the league were drafted in the 4th round or later.
Now I haven't vetted the truth of that statement but a broader principle applies regardless: It appears that for the Center position, it's easier and more likely to get a starter later than it is for say the QB or WR position.
Snead has actually stated that is true based on stats for the OL overall.
So yeah, it's true we need WR/TE/C equally as much. But to get a quality WR, it needs to be done earlier rather than later.
