Gang,
There is definitely a new sherif in town! Over the past 5 years the FO has stockpiled a talented D while at the same time misfiring on creating any O. McSnead seem to be taking a much different approach towards building an our O.
Even though they seemed to have made some good moves it looks like they still need a starting C and a true #1 WR. In my opinion these are out most glaring needs heading into the draft.
Could be a fun thread. Here's my layman attempt, Beach.
On O:
C. Probably get both a FA vet and a midround pick.
WR. In addition to Woods. A premium draft pick. Our other WR's all have question marks, including Tavon. Hopefully one or two will demonstrate NFL ability under this staff.
TE. McVay likes 2 and even the occasional 3 TE sets. Gotta have at least one more added from the draft.
Those are bare minimums in order for McVay to run "his" O this year, imo. "Must haves" somehow, some way.
On D:
CB. Whether TruJo stays or gets traded. Two if he gets traded.
S. Maybe one already on the roster (Randolph), or maybe one from this reportedly good S draft class.
LB. Unless Wade really likes what he's already got on this roster.
The above meet my definition of "needs". At LEAST 4 of them need to be considered as starters. Gulp.
The good news? We have 4 picks through the 4th round in a draft mostly loaded that deeply at positions we need. More good news? I have a good feeling that Snead and this new staff know what the hell they're doing when it comes to evaluating personnel. So I expect a very productive draft, given the limitation of not having our 1st rounder this year.
Color me optimistic, man.
