Can anybody else watch these guys play and tell me what I am missing?
Sullivan seems to always get knocked back and doesn't hold his blocks very well. He looks like a slight upgrade over Barnes but enough of one to make the switch. appreciate Barnes but he shouldn't be starting. I'm surprised that Sullivan started for so long... But was he 3rd on the depth chart somehow? Or just not active when the starter got hurt? Sullivan just looks kind of weak. He does move OK. The one game that Sullivan started for Washington, he just didn't look very good. It was just one game so maybe he would improve as a starter... Against the Eagles he gave up at least one sack, a tackle for a loss and several hurries... not a good game from viewing it superficially... Maybe he had a great game and I just don't know the difference.
Groy on the other hand hardly ever seems to get pushed around (just the opposite) and holds his blocks pretty well and can move seemingly as well as Sullivan. Just seemed to be consistently good and 100% what you would want out of a C.
So is the scheme or what? I mean I can watch Elliott run though a 20 foot hole and understand that he is playing under favorable conditions. Or a QB who has 5 seconds to throw the ball and is successful. But when I see one center consistently knocked backward and another who is consistently not knocked backwards... what am I missing?
Its just confusing. I mean for me, and my unqualified eyes, I am trading a 4th or 5th for Groy... not even a question. Sullivan? Jeez, hard to believe they can't do better. Again just based on what I see... Maybe I've got it completely backwards and Sullivan is the man and Groy just a guy.
