per Overthecap:

2018: $66,919,520
2019: $110,765,374
2020: $171,938,174

Nearly every one of the big contracts either falls of the books in 2019 or could be cut for large savings with little to no dead money. I suspect any contract extension for Donald would be structured with a huge cap hit in 2019.

The upshot being, extensions can be set up out of future cap space. If they give him a contract in 2017 with a large guaranteed 2018 payout (salary, or roster bonus), then Donald gets his money and the Rams don't need a lot of 2017 space to do it.

.

That's why I didn't even mention 2017. Not much space with that left anyway.

The salary cap is just an accounting game. Demoff can put a huge chunk of money on '18, '19', or '20

Paying Donald is not an issue at all if he wants to be here.
