I know you dig in deep on these prospects Flip but put your hand down and give me a synopsis of why he would come in and start by mid season for the Rams?
WR's are a tough call to make an impact in their rookie seasons and I see JuJu making the transition to the pro game rather quickly.
Do you have 3 listed WR's that you think
might be on the board at pick
#37 and worthy of the pick assuming the Rams go with a wide receiver?
I have Godwin in my Top 20 tier so 37 is outstanding value for me. I see no reason why he wouldn't start early in his career. My breakdown will explain why...Top 20 -
CHRIS GODWIN, PENN STATEOverall - Doesn't have one single hole in his game. I have no negatives and I'm a major nitpicker.
Breakdown -
Doesn't jump out of his stance like he's starting a race. His start is smooth and balanced with consistent pad level for every route so CBs can't get a read on him. Allows him to gear down without the CB getting a jump, cut sharp and burst out of his break, or set up a double move and surprise the CB with his second gear deep. Subtle and smart use of his hands to create space. Gets tons of separation vs man and zone. Honestly can't remember a play where he was re-routed so he's always where he's supposed to be. No wasted motion when tracking or attacking the ball. Uses entire catch radius. Has ++ hands that quickly secure the ball. No fear in crowds, physical attacking the ball vs man, and comfortable settling into a zone spot. Adjusts to passes so he's got the advantage and is very aware of where he is on the field for sideline/end zone passes. Physical/effective blocker. Big time player in big games.
As for another three? I would really target an edge defender but if you said WR or bust....
Chad Hansen, Cal is a guy I have mentioned a few times. Physical after the catch with good burst and speed to run away from defenders. Not a polished route runner. Too many smoke screens. Great body control and strong hands. ++ tracking passes over his head. My big issue with him is playing exclusively as Cal's right outside WR. List of some pretty good prospects at WR with a similar high percentage at one spot have struggled to adjust to the NFL.
Carlos Henderson, La Tech is a RB after the catch. Another guy lacking polish as a route runner. Fearless over the middle and extending for passes. Strong hands.can play slot or outside.
And I certainly don't hate JuJu. Smart player, outstanding finding spots vs zone, physical, strong hands and can catch passes outside of his frame. Another ++ guy tracking the ball. Lacks upside athletically.
