I have no official needs that have to be met because of the signings ... Although there are some obvious spots where we could use upgrades.
I am going to do 2. One with Tru staying and one with hm traded for the 65th overall (I'm being conservative) ... that way I can do two drafts and get more players involved.
With Tru.
2) Evan Engram ... I think the Jordan Reed comp is more than accurate, and that Engram is actually a better football player. But with Howard and Njoku as the top 2 and the great depth, I don't think they will be rushing for a smaller TE unless they have a specific role in mind for him.
I love Engram. A weapon in the passing game and by all accounts a kid that is willing to work and is a leader. Whats not to like about a hard working pass catcher with freak athleticism? His blocking, I don't care how big your heart is, sometimes you just need more size. That being said, I am also leaning Engram if he is there.
3) Chidobwe Awuzie ... I think he's the top CB to slide into the 3rd. Almost a first round talent. Thick with surprising long speed.
I prefer his teammate a tad better, but its become impossible to gauge where these guys are going to land because of all the depth. Either way you cannot go wrong with a Colorado DB.
I am actually leaning towards getting a edge rusher in the 3rd round. Derek Rivers and Jordan Willis would be my 2 targets.
4) Lorenzo Jerome FS
4) Vince Beigel kid ran a 4.68. I know players like him fly under the radar, but they don't to me.
I am having a real hard time placing a S into mt draft. I like what I have seen from Jerome. Nice ball skills, highly productive. I also like Eddie Jackson, John Johnson and maybe even Marcus Williams on day 3.
As far as Beigel, I like him, but I would prefer a Carl Lawson just a tad more, as long as you aren't scared by his injury history.
5) Fred Ross WR mister underrated ...
Another position I am having a hard time slotting and I find it hard to imagine the Rams going into the season with Austin, Woods, 3 second year guys and Fred Ross. He and Reynolds are seriously under rated but is he an upgrade over Spruce or Thomas or Cooper? I might wait a round or 2 and go after a kid like Chance Allen.
6) Jon Toth C decent movement skills, want him a little stronger ...
I really like Toth out of the OC prospects and agree he needs to get stronger.
7) Josh Tupuo NT with surprising movement skills
7) I'Tavius Mathers RB great burst and hands, perfect out of the backfield.
Hard to argue with anyone in the 7th round. Maybe more 3-4 ends and LBers. Corey Levin from Chattanooga?
Without Tru
2) Cordrea Tankersly CB
He is just too handsy for me personally. I'm still with Conley until he gets drafted in the 1st round.
3) Gerald Everett TE Just a tad slower than Engram, but great movement skills ... Jordan Reed again.
3) Derek Rivers rOLB Tru athlete and eventual replacement for Quinn.
Yes please and can I have some more.
4) Lorenzo Jerome FS
4) Vince Beigel OLB ...
5) Brendan Langley CB
6) Duke Riley LB classic underrated one year starter ...
7) Chase Rouiller C needs a year of strength training, but moves well.
7) ITavius Mathers RB
Love Rouiller, could play up and down the line. Love Riley.
UDFA priorities
Ejuan Price OLB
Shalom Luani FS
Mack Hollins WR
Brad Watson CB
Sam Cotton TE
Joey Ivie DT
Thoughts and comments welcome ...
Great work as always. As we get through FA, I am more and more convinced that Rams needs are as follows in order:
TE
WR
Rush 3-4 backer
CB
FS
3-4 DE
ILB
OL depth
RB
Just not sure how to work that all in
