Purging "his player" to bring in "my players" which is why the cycle never ends. Saw it when Spags took over, then Fisher, now McVay....all in an attempt to buy more time for "their regime" - Zero continuity, more talented players lost with no replacements. Oh I'm sure FOSM will be coming soon....which will be washed out when our next coach gets here in 2 years....
Somewhere Bill Belichick laughs...
This doesn't feel like "same old story" to me, RFIP. Not at all.
This feels like fundamental positive culture change from top to bottom of both coaching philosophies and player roster.
Only production with winning results will be tolerated.
Night and day different from Fisher and his country club culture. Just late yesterday they released three players and traded away a fourth, 3 of whom were starters plus Sims as a strong player off the bench. Talk about making a statement!
After just 1 day of FA, we now know that we will have new starters at the following positions come opening day:
WR
LOT
RG
C
DE
TE
Plus now another $16 million has been added to our available cap for further moves.
Not to mention the 8 picks we currently have in the draft, plus a possible TruJo trade bonanza of cap dollars and another premium pick.
Things are happening, man.
I expect that we will enjoy dramatic improvements on the field this fall.
It's nice to see the new regime identifying players that were starters in the previous regime that just weren't up to the job.
- GRob, lost playing LT but Fisher kept him there for 3 years
- Kendricks, as everybody has already said, slow, undersized, bad hands ... a jag. Again, a starter for multiple years for Fisher
- Barnes, constantly getting trucked at the line of scrimmage ... another starter under Fisher
Hayes I liked and I think he did a good job in his role so I suspect this was a "fit" move more than anything else. Sims, a take or leave guy.
I'm liking what I'm seeing out of this regime so far. I think the moves they've made to this point have been smart. I can't wait to see how the rest of FA goes and what they do in the draft.
