They don't have a QB. This FA period doesn't really have a QB outside of Romo, who is too smart to choose to be abused in Cleveland for his last job. The draft is very weak at the position, and anyone they do draft is going to take a couple years. So they need a bridge QB who gives them a chance and also won't require overpayment.
Only way for them to solve their issues is trade tbh, when you see guys like Glennon looking at ~$15M contract range. Garoppolo would be fine as a mediocre, hold-it-down type QB, but the Pats are going to fleece someone. McCarron, who granted I know you don't like, is similar in that way. Cincinnati would probably raise the price due to division rival tax, but that said he's a QB option who has played for Hue and even started in this league to include brief playoff exposure.
Another option would be a guy like Hundley. Offer Green Bay a round 2 pick in this draft for him. He is probably gonna be a 1-2 year guy most likely just like the two above, but again would be cheap on cap hit and allow you to draft the position this year or next.
Most of the options they're looking at will require strong OL and good WR talent around them, along with a strong run game. Hue gets all that, and will be able to provide those things. So if I'm GM that's the way I'm going to approach it and hope I can hit on the QB position in this or next year's draft.
