New England and Washington prove you don't need superstar WRs

Who is a superstar WR on NE Pats?
Who is a superstar WR on the Redskins?

Rather, what both teams had was VERY good pass catching TEs that caused match up nightmares, they also had at least 2 very good WRs, but each with their own particular traits. NE used smaller, quicker WRs that simply out-quicked the other team's DBs and LB's. They were excellent route runners, fearless over the middle, great hands, and good RAC. Washington used very fast WRs that could blow the top off of defenses.

So I just don't see that a superstar so-called #1 WR is the key. Rather it is having 2 or 3 very good WRs, each with their own traits that when utilized properly (used to their strengths) makes things difficult for the D to defend.

We have 1 very good WR in Austin if he is simply used correctly. If he was in the NE offense, he'd be terrific. Notice how in NE's offense, Amendola and Edelmann are sent in patterns in which they are moving rapidly and running by their defenders...catching the ball on the move. The Rams constantly had Austin running to a spot and stopping as though he was a possession WR or running into well defended short zones.

I also think we're going to find out that Spruce is going to be good as a possession WR. Cooper is slick enough and strong enough to break some tackles so he might be able to run to spots and throttle down or stop.
