I think most QBs can learn the playbook and call the plays... its something else to read the defense and function within 2 or 3 seconds before you're hit while you're completely vulnerable by someone who is kind of literally trying to hurt you real bad. Then try to not think about that while you do it again for the rest of the game. Probably more worrisome than the hit is the idea that you want to get the ball out to have a successful play and don't want to fumble, take a sack or get your arm hit as you're throwing so you don't lob up up for grabs.

Its that "reacting without thinking" as Yoda says "Just do". That seems to be the tough part. Or you can get a great OL and be able to run.

One QB the Rams drafted a few years ago went through a number of different OC's. Learning the plays, the calls, etc., was never a problem. But its something quite different to execute it in a few seconds behind what was usually a pretty bad OL with pretty bad talent surrounding him.
