Look I think we're going to suck.

But every year there are teams that flip quickly when people reckon there was no hope.

I know they are way better than us, but was there a single expert having Atlanta winning the NFC?

Nobody had the NFC East as the strongest division in the NFL or Prescott setting the league on fire.

I'm not about to get depressed until there is something other than conjecture to get depressed about.

Last year was a perfect cluster storm of several things all unique to that season.

As a rule there are no quick turnarounds unless a team has established talent in place. Atlanta did. SF did back in the days of Harbaugh. Do the Rams? That is very hard to say because if they have sufficient talent on offense, it's young, and THAT is very different from the Falcons and 49ers in their big turnarounds. They had very good veteran talent in place.

The problem is, the various different things that "caused" 2016 all blur the view of talent on offense. Do the Rams have enough talent on offense for that unit to be a decent partner to what promises to be a good defense?

I actually think no one really knows the answer to that yet.

A warning though. There will be all sorts of different votes on what 2016 was about and what caused it. I tend to not be of the "one cause explains all" camp. I don't think it was just one thing--coaching, talent, "culture," any of it. It's not two things either. I think there are lots of simultaneous causes for 2016. So in advance I tend not to agree with "one cause" explanations. That's just my own vote.
